The education at graduate level has been working hard to revolutionize itself， guided by “the education at graduate school of the new age” reports of the Central Council for Education and supported by “the attractive education at graduate school” projects by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology （MEXT） of Japanese government. Especially at graduate schools in the field of health and medical technology and social walfare, the implementation of new schemes has been advocated, namely, a facilitation of the enrollment of working professionals, an expansion of programs for advanced professionals and the enrichment of regional contribution and industrial-academicgovernment cooperation. While it has been encouraged for researchers to apply for the competitive funds such as Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research at most universities, “time, space, staffing” obstacles in academic environment for research activities are not fully resolved, yet. The use of information technology in education is the current trend, but there is a wide range of skill levels among teachers, and therefore the establishment of the support system for challenged teachers is highly expected. Financial as well as organizational supports should be revised and improved continuously in order to increase the enrollment of new graduate students. University s original loan system, stipend, employment as teaching/research assistants are examples among them. The high rate of degree conferment and solid achievements of career path after graduation are the factors for successful enrollment program. It should be noted that a point of attract of graduate schools in this field is a solid employment rate after graduation. |

大学院教育は、中央教育審議会による「新時代の大学院教育」の答申、文部科学省の「魅力ある大学院教育」イニシアティブ事業の支援などで様々な改革が試みられている。保健・医療・福祉に関連した大学院においては、高度専門職業人養成コースの増加・充実、社会人大学院生が履修しやすい条件のさらなる整備、地域貢献・産学官連携への貢献が期待されている。教員の研究費は科学研究費などの競争的資金の獲得がほとんどの大学で奨励されており、具体的な取り組みが行われている。しかし、教員の研究環境には課題が多く、特に研究時間、研究室、研究スタッフの確保においては厳しい実態が窺わ
れた。Information technology教育は拡充の傾向だが、教員における習熟格差の課題があり、支援体制の確立が望まれる。大学院進入学者の促進に向けて経済的側面（大学独自の貸与制度、給付制度、Teaching Assistant、Research Assistantの採用）での支援、社会人入学者に対する履修機会、履修環境の改善が問われる。また、大学院定員の充足のためには、学位取得率が高いことと修了後のキャリアパスの確立が求められる。「保健分野」の博士課程修了者は大多数が専門的・技術的職業に就き、他分野に比して大学教員、研究者への就職が高い。 |
